Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

My son/daughter would like to take music, a world language AND engineering or biomedical science for four years. Is this possible?
Unfortunately, students will eventually have to make a choice regarding their electives.  Beginning in the sophomore year, students are required to take social studies their 10th, 11th and 12th grade years.  This means that students will have English, math, science and social studies taking up four of their six periods.  Typically, students then need to make a choice regarding what elective they will choose to pursue.

I really think my son/daughter will be interested in Running Start.  When do we make this decision?  How do we receive information about this program?
Running Start is not an option for students until their junior (11th grade) year.  As this is an important decision, information can be obtained from your student's counselor (Mr. Cowart) and, more specifically, the Community Colleges of Spokane.  There is nothing to prepare as a 9th grade student if Running Start is something your family may consider eventually.

What credits must my student earn to graduate from Mt. Spokane?
Starting with the class of 2020, 24 credits are needed to graduate from Mt. Spokane High School.  Please access the following chart from the State Board of Education HERE to better understand the credit requirements.
